Strategic Land Manager

Bristol | Permanent | Head office £70,000–£80,000 per annum

A leading housing association is seeking an experienced Strategic Land Manager to join its Land & Planning team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to help shape a high-quality development pipeline and bring forward land opportunities that support the delivery of much-needed affordable and sustainable homes.

You will lead the identification, appraisal, acquisition and promotion of strategic land opportunities, working closely with internal teams, landowners, developers, local authorities and professional advisers. You will manage land negotiations and due diligence, oversee planning strategies and consents, and provide clear recommendations on viability, risk and investment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Identifying and assessing strategic land opportunities aligned with organisational objectives • Leading land acquisitions, option agreements, promotion agreements and related negotiations • Managing planning, technical, financial and legal due diligence • Developing robust appraisal and business-case submissions for approval • Building effective relationships with landowners, agents, local authorities and development partners • Monitoring market conditions, policy changes and emerging opportunities • Supporting the delivery of a high-quality, financially sustainable development programme

You will have substantial experience in strategic land, land acquisition or development within housing, housebuilding, property or a related environment. Strong knowledge of the planning system, land contracts, development appraisals and the affordable housing sector is essential. You will also bring excellent negotiation, stakeholder-management and commercial decision-making skills, alongside the ability to manage complex projects and present clear recommendations to senior colleagues.

Based at the organisation’s Bristol head office, this permanent role offers the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the delivery of affordable homes and community-focused development.
